Delani Gianna Caravelli

My name is Delani Gianna Caravelli and I am the Head Chef and Creator of Hecho Con Amor. I am the fourth generation of chefs in my family. My great grandparents immigrated to the United States from Genoa, Italy and opened a traditional Italian restaurant in San Francisco, California. My grandmother worked as a chef her whole life in commercial kitchens and catering companies. My mother was a server in fine dining and later branched off into event planning. My father was a Saucier. They met and fell in love working together in a restaurant.

Food has always been the cornerstone of our family gatherings and my earliest memories are of shucking peas, plucking herbs, rolling meatballs, and stirring big pots of something fragrant and delicious. We would gather around the family table together and pass around serving dishes filled to the brim with delicious food, clink glasses and enjoy being together.

We believe that healthy food and clean water are our most basic human right, along with equality, education for all, and caring for our environment.

We focus on environmental sustainability. We use cloth grocery bags and reusable containers for all our shopping to reduce our use of single-use plastic. We buy directly from local, organic farms and growers whenever possible to ensure the utmost quality and freshness, as well as the health of our planet.
